GORBEL WORKSTATION CRANES
One of the most efficient ways to reduce workplace manual handling whilst retaining floor space and layout flexibility is by installing an overhead workstation crane system.
Work Station cranes are a proven way to improve productivity, increase quality, and provide a safer work environment. They are three times easier to use than traditional I-beam cranes and allow for safe lifting and product handling over a large area – effectively creating a “safe work cell” for users.
A study conducted by the Human Factors Laboratory at Rochester Institute of Technology for Gorbel shows that work station cranes increase productivity up to 28 percent compared with
I-beam cranes.
The ergonomic work zone created by a work station crane has the added advantage of freeing up floor space for production. All lifting tasks within the work cell are accessible by the crane. The ease of movement is the same throughout the entire work cell - unlike other crane systems that tend to bind and are more difficult to move when the load is in the corner of the work cell or off to the side.
HOW DO GORBEL ERGONOMIC CRANES WORK?
Work station cranes are designed with a simple focus: to lift a load with minimal effort and maximum efficiency.
All of the components in a Gorbel enclosed track work station are engineered to reduce friction and weight. This creates a crane that is easy to use yet retains precision and speed when moving a workload.
Important elements of the Gorbel workstation include;
• Industry leading 5 year warranty
• 2 degree taper of the track running flange and wheels helps to centre the trolley for smooth, effortless movement
• Enclosed track design virtually eliminates dirt and dust from the rolling surface. This reduces wear on the trolley wheels and end trucks.
• The smooth running surface reduces rolling resistance.
• Low profile of the steel track allows system installation where headroom is a problem.
• The low track weight reduces the applied forces exerted on the supporting structure.
• Long spans allow systems to be installed where hanging points are infrequent.
• Five capacities (125Kg, 250Kg, 500Kg, 1,000Kg, and 2,000Kg.) enable bridge weights and costs to be kept to a minimum.
• Unique DuraComp 4 wheels that outperform steel wheels in endurance and lower rolling resistance.
CEILING MOUNTED WORK STATION BRIDGE CRANE
• Incorporates two parallel runways suspended from the building ceiling along which the bridge can travel. A hoist trolley or end effector attaches to the bridge thus providing full lifting coverage over the entire work area.
• Multiple bridges can be hung from runways. Capacities of the individual bridges may vary according to need and the layout.
• Ceiling mounted cranes don’t require any floor space.
FREE STANDING WORK STATION BRIDGE CRANE
• When the crane can’t be attached to the building columns can be used to create a freestanding structure that supports the runways and bridges.
• Incorporates two parallel runways suspended from the building ceiling along which the bridge can travel. A hoist trolley or end effector attaches to the bridge thus providing full lifting coverage over the entire work area.
• Mixed designs can incorporate freestanding columns on one side and attach to the ceiling on the other side
• Multiple bridges can be hung from runways. Capacities of the individual bridges may vary according to need and the layout.
MONORAILS – FREESTANDING, CEILING MOUNTED
• A single runway, either ceiling mounted or freestanding along which hoist trolleys can travel.
• Can be used in conjunction with bridge cranes to create more complex solutions to product handling problems.
• Monorails available in capacities up to 2,000 kg’s.

Die changing
What do they do? Gorbel Workstation Cranes provide a load handling and positioning function from above the work cell. They incorporate an articulating structure above the workstation from which is suspended a hoist or other lifting device. This results in the ability to move the load horizontally and vertically throughout the workstation.
They have a multitude of uses including moving components in and out of processing machinery, moving components, tooling or fixtures on production lines, positioning welding equipment or wire feeders and turning or positioning weldments during fabrication.
Freestanding Bridge Crane (Floor Mounted)
Runways are supported on a freestanding structure.
Monorails
A single runway, either ceiling mounted or freestanding along which a hoist trolley can travel.
Safety Workstation Cranes are invariably fixed to the floor or structure of the building in which they operate. The structural adequacy of the floor or building structure must be evaluated before installing the crane.
Limitations
Cranes can be used to cover wide areas but there are limits on span and bridge length. Gorbel cranes offer the widest available spans and bridge lengths and it is important to discuss your exact requirements
