V Series Fallshaw HOME

Very heavy duty. For tow trailers, heavy cargo trucks, heavy maintenance platforms, jigs, etc.
This range has been developed for severe conditions encountered in power towing, where impact loads are encountered as well as static loads - towing speeds up to 10kph. The swivel assembly is made up of CNC turned raceways made from high tensile steel and heat treated for greater toughness. Slotted mounting plate gives much greater mounting flexibility. Black etch prime finish gives good resistance to corrosion under normal operating conditions, and provides a good base coat for custom painting by the customer. Grease nipple allows for regular maintenance.
These wheels are fitted with high capacity, deep groove precision bearings. The bearings are shielded to resist dust and moisture whilst retaining grease. Maintenance-free under normal operating conditions.
For towing speeds exceeding 10kph see "U series" (up to 16kph).

Polyurethane tyred wheels are preferred for most applications. They are non-marking, have a low starting torque, do not flat spot while standing, operate quietly, are shock absorbing and have an operating temperature of between -30°C to +90°C (+30°C in water).

Polyurethane tyred wheels are particularly suited to power towing and other uses giving high impact loads. A generous 20mm of polyurethane absorbs much more of the shock, and protects both castor and trolley from damage. Polyurethane is unaffected by oils and most industrial chemicals. It has a much higher load capacity than rubber, and much higher resistance to "chunking", abrasion and pickup of gravel and metal chips. We take particular care to ensure secure bonding of the tyre to the rugged cast centre.
When fully loaded these castors should be towed, and NOT hand pushed. See also 'A', 'B' & 'U' series.
See also 'Y' series for a 400mm rubber tyred towing castor.
Greater detail on castors and towing is covered in the 'Towing Pages'.
