CONSIDERATIONS

Finish: The H series and lighter Y series are zinc plated (indoor use). The heavier Y, X & V are painted (indoor/reasonable outdoor use).
Cold conditions: These castors are normally lubricated with a grease usable between 0ºC and 100ºC. If the castors are to be used in chilling rooms, freezing stores or outdoors in arctic conditions, specify LOW TEMPERATURE grease when ordering. Usable to -60ºC.
Tyres: Polyurethane is best for heavy loads towed on smooth surfaces. Rubber or pneumatics are best for rougher surfaces.

1. Calculate the maximum load of the trolley, then add 25% for the weight of the trolley. This gives the design load of the trolley.
2. Divide this by the number of castors (usually 4). This gives the CASTOR LOAD.
3. Estimate the maximum speed of the trolley.
4. Make a first choice from the table below.
5. If the floor or tarmac is not in good condition, choose the next greater capacity castor. If it is in bad condition go up two capacity steps.
6. If the trolley is to be in continuous use, choose a castor of at least 25% greater capacity.
