Australia requires all people to have equal access to job opportunities and careers. Historically the time out of paid employment for women to bear, and usually care, for children has caused them to be under-represented in leadership roles across the public, private, political and community sectors. Australia want to change this.

Businesses with more than 100 staff need to:

measure the equality of women to men
identify the reasons for inequality
remove them if possible
report yearly to the EOWA, who reviews progress and assists with advice towards improvement.
